Answer

How do you automate order entry from customer POs?

Updated July 2026 · by the DynamoDocs team

The short answer

Capture incoming customer purchase orders from email or upload, use AI to extract the header and every line item, validate the data, and post it into your ERP as a sales order automatically, so order-entry staff review exceptions instead of typing every order. DynamoDocs does this even for customers who send PDF or email POs instead of EDI.

Capture POs however they arrive

Customer POs come as PDFs, scans, Excel files, or email bodies. All of these are ingested automatically from a monitored mailbox or upload.

AI extracts the header and every line (part numbers, quantities, prices, unit of measure) on layouts it has never seen.

Post as a sales order

Validated orders are mapped into your ERP's sales-order format and posted, ready to fulfill, with exceptions flagged for a quick fix.

What about customers who do use EDI?

Both are handled in one system. DynamoDocs reads EDI 850 orders and 860 changes and sends the 855/865 acknowledgments partners require, while PDF and email POs from everyone else run through the same validation and post to the same ERP.

Does it handle RFQs too?

Yes. RFQs are extracted and posted as quotes, using the same capture-extract-validate-post pipeline.
